After 80 meters, at a left-hand bend, take the lane ahead with thatched Chantry Acre Lodge on your right.
Continue along the banked lane past Vineyard.
Look over the hedge to see the ivy-clad ruin of Backingston Chapel once past Chapell House on your right.
Cross the stile on your left (5 meters past the metal gate on the left).
Go down the field keeping to the hedge on your right and cross the stile in the right-hand corner.
Head across the next field aiming for a wide earthy track beneath the hawthorns (in line with the telegraph pole).
Continue into the field, keeping to the hedge on your right and crossing the stile.
Go through the next narrow, overgrown field, and leave by the stile into another field.
Keep the hedge on your left and go ahead to a wooden stile leading into the wood beside Knapp Farmhouse.
Keep on the narrow path along the top of the wood (do not take the path to the right).
The path will emerge on top of a cliff, giving stunning views over Pwlldu Bay and across to the Devon coast.
Take the path until it dips to the broad track leading down to the bay.
(Optional: Turn right to visit the bay, crossing a bridge and passing between houses to reach the beach).
Turn left onto the track and branch off up steps to the stile on your right just before you reach the small car park.
Cross over the stile and walk onto the headland for the views.
Continue east along the clifftop above Seven Slades.
Where the path divides, take the right-hand path nearer the sea. It rounds the headland giving views across Caswell Bay to Whiteshell Point.
Leave the headland on the path which drops through scrub (do not take the vertical path on the right) to a gateway at the top of the wood.
Take the stepped path right down through the wood to a stile.
Go ahead from the stile across the field, leaving by a second stile, then continue for 6 meters to a path.
(Optional: Turn right to explore the beach at Brandy Cove).
Turn left, go ahead through the metal gate (do not take the path on the right) uphill on the track.
Pass Hareslade Farm on your left, go through a second metal gate, and continue up the lane.
At the sewage works, the lane becomes metalled, and continues to Brandy Cove Road and Pyle Corner.
